Flight Simulation VLOG - Armchair Flyers

Through this flight simulation vlog, I hope to share the fun I have flying anywhere from an armchair.

I've met a few people who have had a Private Pilot's License. On the whole, they are a cautious lot. It's probably the only way to be if you fly for fun in the real world. Mistakes are harshly punished.

One fellow I knew found himself aloft in bad weather. For the sake of the story, I shall call him George.

He didn't have an instrument rating. Without an instrument rating, private pilots are not allowed to fly in low visibility conditions or in clouds.

George became disorientated and lost his way. He found himself near Heathrow, declared an emergency, and landed his Cessna there. As you might imagine, it caused quite a fuss, not to mention delays and eye-watering landing fees.

George didn't fly anymore after that incident.

In my armchair flyers world, mistakes aren't even embarrassing if no one is watching!

As a cadet in the Air Training Corps, I got my first taste of flying. Air experience they called it. A busload of us would be driven up to Cambridge and we would wait our turn in a wooden hut, probably much the same as real pilots waited for a call to scramble in the battle of Britain.

No protection from the elements in the Top Rudder!

Then they would strap us into a parachute so tightly that we had to walk out to the aircraft in a crouched position.

I was quite short. Even sitting on the parachute, I could hardly see out of the cockpit.

Our instructors would take us aloft and if we were lucky, we would get to control the aircraft through a few turns.

My skills were often complimented. My instructors didn't know I was cheating.

Since I could hardly see out, I fixed my gaze on the instruments and followed instructions carefully, making clean turns.

That was then.

Now the busy decades have rushed by and I still haven't got a PPL.

For now, I content myself with some adventures in MSFS2020.

To maintain my interest I'll be sharing some short flight simulation hops in light aircraft from different airfields, airstrips, and airports, mostly in the South West of the UK to begin with.

Flying from Cornwall airfields.

Flying from Devon airfields.

Flying from Somerset airfields.

Flying from other interesting airfields.

Come fly with me.

Do you have narrated YouTube videos of simulator flights from interesting airfields? Send me a link or post it in the comments. I'll add those I like to this flight simulation vlog.
